Coaching

With the support of Arts Council England, I trained as a Relational Dynamics Coach with Relational Dynamics 1st in Autumn 2015 and gained a distinction. I also trained with the Action Learning Associates in London – arguably the most highly regarded course provider for Action Learning in the UK.

Since then I have been regularly coaching as part of my portfolio of work, having small private practice as well as providing coaching services for two charities – the Young Women’s Trust and Dancers Career Development.

Currently (2024), thanks to a successful application to WMCA Activate Skills Development Programme in 2024, I am taking part in CRR UK’s ORSC (Organisation and Relationships Systems Coaching) course (as well as some other training) to enhance my work with teams.

I engage in regular supervision and continually take part in further training to expand my practice. I am particularly interested in NLP, Constellations, and different Motivation frameworks.

I am a member of the Association for Coaching and the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I gained the ACC coaching credential with ICF over 3 years ago (it’s just lapsed), and am currently in the process of obtaining the PCC credential, with the latter.

What is coaching?
As a coach my role will be to facilitate your thinking. I will ask open questions that help you to talk about and make decisions regarding the issue/topic that you chose to discuss. I will not give you advice – that’s the role of a mentor.

In coaching the focus is on the future and not the past. Many people find it a positive, helpful and empowering experience. It is my job to “contain” the space and nurture a trusting relationship. In relation to this it is important to note that the session is fully confidential unless I believe there to be a risk of harm to yourself or others – or that you that you are operating outside of the law. I may ask if I can share some of the content of the discussion with a peer supervisory team. However, you would never be named in the discussion and that forum would be confidential too.

Working with me
Since my training and thanks to a grant from Arts Council England, I have provided subsidised coaching sessions to many people from the arts sector in the West Midlands. As mentioned, I also provide coaching services to the Young Women’s Trust and Dancers Career Development

I am now expanding my coaching practice and have space to take on more coachees. Please free to contact me for further information.

Recent feedback
“Coaching definitely helped me outline what I wanted, how I was going to get there and what my next steps were, and then spurred me into action!”

“I was guided into thinking of ways of solving a variety of problems in managing my professional and home life”

“Very rarely do I give myself time to evaluate where I am heading in my career and build a plan of action that could help in reaching my goals. As a artist I am working alone all the time so do not have reviews offered by most professional companies. Coaching is a fine substitute for this. Coaching is a safe environment to explore openly your thoughts. The action of speaking your thoughts out loud is also really beneficial. I’m sure the action of doing so generates a positive mental attitude going forward…plus it would be nice to think that FATE is listening and the universe will also be helping you meet you goals”.

“You gave us some precious time and head space to ask ourselves the questions that mattered”.

“You were completely attentive and had a really good grasp of the issues facing freelancers within the Creative Sector.  Much of what we discussed I had been thinking about already as I’m at a point where I feel a shift is needed in my career, but it was quite cathartic to articulate it aloud in a safe space.  It really got me thinking about focusing on collaboration with others, and choosing the right kind of collaborations. I would very much recommend a coaching session for anyone working Freelance within the Creative Industries.  There are so few opportunities for freelancers to reflect with others when work necessitates flitting from one project to another, so having space to speak with someone who is attuned to the challenges and opportunities that freelance work entails was very refreshing”.

“You hold the space very well with out me feeling judged. Sometimes talking about yourself can be emotional and you give plenty of space for reflection and time to think about things”.
